Prancing Pony Farm is a working dairy goat farm in California and home to a large variety of livestock used for training our puppies and juvenile dogs.

We have a large and diverse breeding program with genetics from all over the United States as well as imported lines, including our imported Italian stud dog, Pegaso. All of our breeding dogs are working LGDs with excellent temperaments, conformation and working ability. Our breeding dogs are evaluated with the superior PennHip method to screen for Hip Dysplasia and all have scores that far surpass the breed average or COE requirements. Our dogs are also DNA tested to screen for genetic defects that could be passed down to their puppies.

Our puppies start out life in our dedicated LGD whelping and training facility (The Puppy Parlor). We built this state-of-the-art facility so that our puppies could live in close proximity with specially chosen gentle livestock from birth. This allows us to capitalize on the critical learning periods all puppies go through in the first weeks but still keep them protected from inclement weather and other health concerns. As the pups mature and grow they are introduced to other livestock and given more territory to guard and more responsibilty, learning from our best puppy mentor dogs, goats and other animals.

We also train and socialize our puppies with Puppy Culture and KPA Clicker Training. Our pups are introduced to a wide variety of novel experiences and people during their training. This well-rounded socialization program produces resilient pups that will thrive in a wide range of environments, jobs and homes.

All pups come with a written puppy contract and 2-year health guarantee, 30 days free Trupanion health insurance and a puppy pack with a variety of useful items. And most of all we include lifetime support for every puppy. This means we are always available by phone, text or email if you ever have questions about training, health or anything else. And if you ever find yourself in the position of needing to rehome your dog we will take it back, for the life of the dog, for any reason.

We ship pups all over the USA and Canada. We can take reservations at any time for an upcoming litter or we can hold your dog in training until you’re ready to bring them home.
