Naranjo Hills Louie (aka Lulu) is an adolescent Maremma looking for a farm of his own. Louie was born on February 18, 2023 and has been living with a large flock of pastured chickens, goats, mini cows, potbellied pigs, and barn cats on our farm with the guidance and supervision of his dam, sire, and “uncle.” He is very affectionate with those he considers his family (be ready for lots of kisses!) and distrusting of strangers. His family oriented personality would make him a good dual purpose Maremma (i.e., livestock guardian with house or patio/porch privileges). However, with regular visits with his family in pasture, he would do just fine full-time outside as well following an initial adjustment period.

Louie was raised with Puppy Culture and as a result is completely fine with loud noises (storms, fireworks, farm equipment, etc.), has great recall, walks on a leash, and allows grooming from people he knows and trusts. PennHIP (hip x-rays) was completed on June 14, 2023 with scores slightly better than the breed average and no signs of hip dysplasia/osteoarthritis. Louie has completed all his first-year vaccines, including rabies, is on regular heart worm and flea/tick preventative, and microchipped. He will thrive with a patient family who is able to give him the space and time to adjust to a new farm, as well as willing to build his confidence into adulthood with positive reinforcement practices. Louie is on track to be a reliable livestock guardian dog within the next few months.
